Hello all! I'm kinda' new to this site found on um...? Heavgames. I like this game for it's detail... Graphics waaaay out dated, but that never stopped me, I was just wondering how you really work triggers, I've seen few tutorials but, what the *beeps* do they mean? I know how to set object names stances, graphical sizes and that in a scenario but can't do win conditions, camera paths etc. Was just wondering if any-one can bothered to help. Plus I make models for other games, do you know a suitable programme to make them for this game...? Otherwise I'll go with 3D max but I wont know how to get them ingame on Empires.

an example for a win condition could be something like that: If: | Then: (NOT) <[object] exist> | <player 1 victory> this trigger makes you win once a certain unit has been killed or removed. you can do the same with a defeat condition.

Yay another person from the UK. Anyway it really depends what sort of triggers you want to make, like what you want the win condition to be. For example if your in a certain area, or like talknight said if you kill a certain object you then win... At first when I came to trying to figure out triggers I really struggled but when you get the hang of it it can be surprisingly easy. Anyway i'll give you an example here of a trigger where when you reach an area you win. 1) Go onto the triggers menu, and select area. 2) Click on new and then select an area where ever you want and whatever size you wish. 3) Right now make sure you've placed a unit, any as long as you can control it. Then go onto objects. 4) On the object click new, making sure your on the select map feature and select the object you wish. 5) Near the bottom there should be some writing that says in area. To the left of this is a box click it so theres a tick in it. Then, select the area you made in the 2nd instruction I gave you. 6) Then go onto effects and create a new one efeect. 7) In the bar that says objects select the arrow thats at the right of the box and click on the one that says player. 8) Underneath where it says action change this too victory (the top one) Or more likely this is the default action, make sure the player is player 1. 9) Create a new trigger. 10) As the condition select <Whatever your unit was> exists. 11) Then in the effect part click on <victory player 1> This should mean that when you bring your unit in that certain area you will win.

My god I like you people! cheers, don't you think they should remake a kinda' Empires, obviuosly much better? Like: Updated and more realistic, cause Empire earth 2 and Age Of Empires 3 just didn't have the edge like they were ment to have. Thanks again I'll let you know how I get on, and yeah UK's are dying out... They all moved on to X-box 360, don't get me wrong they are good!

Triggers aren't something I think can easily be explained. Rather, you ask a specific question, get an in depth answer, and then you've picked up on a trick that you will remember. For example, I can work with most triggers, but I can't program a cut scene to save my life. There are plenty of people here that I am sure cna help you along your path to learning the ways of triggers. If only oXo were here...he's an expert.

That's cool. Well, you could buy the 3DS Max plugin + the game engine from Tilted Mills for $125,000. Otherwise you could attempt to crack the file format (really hard).

Um... Cheers guys I think I know what you mean, if I get confused on a part I will post here for help, so you can rescue me again. Confused Soldier: Yeah lol, I don't think I'll attempt that... But I will use some cheaper, possibly free tools.

Im sure if we surfed around on the EH forums we could probably find a couple of decent explanations on how to make decent camera paths and cinematics. Edit: Heres a good one, go to the last post in the thread. empires.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=ct&f=7,786,0,50 Okay for some reason it's not hyperlinking the whole of the address. Just copy it and just paste it into your web browser thingy and you should get to the right thread.
