It should say somewhere on it. Or look through the manual it came with if you still have that (I keep all of my manuals in the corner of my closet, it works because sometimes I need one).
Can you ask your father?

Funny how you knew i was old enough to still live with my Dad But to be honest i dont think he would have a clue. As for manuals..well im moving house very soon so they are probably all stacked right at the bottom of some random box i have no hope of finding.

Ohh, I know how that feels. We move a lot. Luckily, you can still keep all of your forum friends. I have friends in several states + Finland, but I never see them so they aren't really your "friends" anymore. I figured that since you had no idea what kind of router or whatever it is, and are asking people in a forum for help on a game, you would be < 18

Thats how I know most of everything I know. Also my sister BF has a major in computer networking and is a huge geek like me(not a nerd, they are very different).

ok i looked at this again i thought well maybe this isnt to hard i found the readme folder and which ports to disable but...
1.How do i disable these ports? bascially were do i go to.
2. Will disabling these ports let hackers, viruses etc get through there to my pc?

Posting your email on forums lets in hackers and viruses, not open ports.

hmmm u can stop emails coming in from a place plus i trust this site since it came from HG anyway as i said i have no idea about computers and therefore dont know how dangerous ports are.
Ive followed a guide and supposedly opened up the ports required to host yet it still doesnt work.

Just learn to deal with it. I've tried and it just doesn't work. Would you happen to be using Norton Internet Security too?

I know what you have to do once you get to a screen, but I never learned how. I think you type your IP as a web address but I'm not sure. Rot can guide you there.
No it won't, but if you happen to have a program such as VNC that lets other people take control of your computer if they have a password, and you have ALL your ports open, and your firewall is down then its not great. But you don't have the program (or you would know about it if you did, so no worries) and as long as your Firewall is up its fine.
Actually the firewall just made me think of something. If you have it up (which you should) add Empires to the exceptions list, and enable exceptions. It could be blocking people from joining, even if you have the correct ports open.

already tried adding it to exceptions list but it still wont work i dont understand why people desinged computers to have hidden firewalls.

They didn't design it so people could play videogames online either.
