Siege Islands I have made a random map script that I call "Siege Islands". It is an islands map sort of like channels. It has islands, team growth, mountains, choke points, trees, and small rivers. Link: Version 1.2 click hereVersion 1.1 click hereFile size: ~8kb MP password: 'pedromendes' (so whenever anyone hosts it, all people who have the RMS will be able to join)MP name: 'Siege Islands RMS' (or something like that, same reason as above)Screenshots:I will put more screenshots up later. Feel free to post your own. Its like a Team Island map except for:- Several large open spaces
- Several large very mountainous places
- Shallower / narrower rivers
- Mountains between team members
- Many choke points
- You may / may not get lots of forest on your map
- Small land connections (isthmuses) with some neighboring islands
- Three apple trees per player
Some hints:- Make plenty of artillery and siege
- Give artillery extra range to fire across rivers
- Get control of choke points
- make mini-bases once you gain control of enemy island
- Beachheads are easier to make on flat land
- You can easily waste all your money on ships (don't)
More Detail:The maps are quite random with many choke points and open areas. You will need to use different tactics on different sections of the map. Try getting cannons up onto the higher elevation. I personally like the randomness and the "reality" in these maps (note this isn't a completely random map each time, they all have the same basic shape, just more features that vary between maps). Lets face it, not all rivers are perfect, mountains are always used to their advantage in real battles, armies can cross rivers, cannons are always put onto hills, not all land has lots of trees, and there is never a battle where enemy spies couldn't sneak into or near the enemy fort. This map provides a little bit of reality from the "random" maps that SSSI provided which were always "perfect" and had no originality, except for maybe the coastal maps, but otherwise you could predict what the map would look like and what strategies would work for it.

I'm not 100% sure, but it should if all the people playing have the map, so you should make it password only and invite your friends in who have downloaded this. I'd like to see a game of this played on MP, should be nice. If anybody does, please record it and email it to me, angrysheepdog@yahoo.com

There is also a nice little function called "record game" I can play too to make it more fun You guys wanna do a "connect to IP" thing, or host one in the main thing? We should always use the same password, like "monkey5" (just making one up off to top of my head, don't need to get fancy) That way everyone who downloads it will know it and will be able to join if it is ever hosted again. Also less hassle than having to make up a new password. EDIT: or would people be able to download it from the host? RE-EDIT: typo

People can download scens from the host, but I'm not sure about RMS.
And if there is going to be any passwords its 'pedromendes'.

Well, me and CS just tested it out and just as it happened or it isn't quite random after all, we got the exact same map in the screenie above. I'd say it's alright but even on the map we had there was only one shallow river that could be crossed. I had to go a great length across the map to reach the enemy (took about 5 minutes). Still a very interesting varied map. and now screenies! (ignore snow mod) The start of the game is filled with adrenaline. uh. yeah. Setting up an remote base. Here I am being forced to make transports for my villies to get to the middle island, there weren't any shallow rivers nearby. Taking advantage of the middle island... Last building left. Last building left + reinforcements = victory on the field.

I never said completely random, but the hills are in different spots, and the map angle varies. There are randomly placed connections as well. Try doing it a few times just to see how different the map can get. Of course it will have the same number of islands and relatively same position, but the mountains and connections and everything are what make it different. Thanks for trying it out. EDIT: no shallows to the middle island?!

None that I saw (near where players started anyway). I designated a villie to build a mine of a pile of gold on the middle island and when I went to see CS's base just north of the map, I saw the same villie having to go around the map to find a shallow river.

Thats not cool. Sorry about that. I tried adding more connections per player but on smaller maps it looked just plain ridiculous. Hmmm. I will need to use variables for all the map sizes to establish this. I will fix this and post an update soon.

Alright, I fixed the little bug of not having connections. Now you are more likely to get connections, although it is not guaranteed ;D

I just dowsnload it and played a 1vs1 game with computer AI. the map looks nice, but the mountains were in the wrong position and put me in a disadvantage. eventually i had to fortify my town and now i'm holding it back against consant English attacks.
I give it an Average.
