I'm gunna get some talking going on again. So, what do you guys think would be a good patch for EDMW? A patch to fix the triggers bugs? Better realistic AI that follows same rules as humans? A feature to only limit the manufacturing of just 1 type of unit? (useful for "inf only" games).
What do you guys think?
I think they should fix the AI so they follow the same rules as humans, if you notice in the beginning they make like 10 buildings without sending a single cit to collect wood.

At the moment I'd like the trigger bug to be fixed in a patch, since i'm creating a scenario at the moment and it's really fudging me off.

A patch which tells everyone 'buy Empires and DL this patch for free!' and an influx of new fans, if not idiots, come in.

Hate to burst your bubble but the creators of Empires (SSSI) were disbanded by greedy bastards called Midway. They should have stuck with Arcade games...

We know that. In fact all ideas related to Empires is a figment of imagination.

Yup, maybe we could get like 2 of the creators back together to help us make some patches. It's just an idea that prob won't happen though....

Yeah! I'm on Springbreak! Finally! I'd imagine creating patches for Empires would be limited to balancing. Fixing triggers would be a different story (involving programming. There's no script to it). GoSailingHas anybody figured out why SSSi broke up?

Yes. SSSI developed a game called Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War (heres the fansite raf.heavengames.com ). When they were nearly done with development, they decided they needed more time. The publisher, Midway (their first PC game) didn't understand the importance of finishing and balancing an RTS so they stopped funding and SSSI went bankrupt. This then caused the release of a game with enormous potential with loads of bugs and inbalances. The balance was never even tweaked, but there were a few bug fixes with patches. *strays from topic* The worst part about Rise and Fall is they didn't even get the latest version of it. What they released was worse than what had been already made by SSSI. Playtesters confirmed that there are exploits that were identified in early playtesting that were fixed at the last session, but are still in the game today. Its absolutely disgusting what they did. They axed SSSi and ruined a great game.

Well I am not a big computer game person so I never really looked at it. But it seems like things just took a turn for the worst when they couldn't complete their deadline.

ah but look at Stalker, its deadline was 3 or 4 years ago and it got released a month ago, you can never rush a game release, as R&F has shown.

Fable is a great example of a rushed deadline. The designers actually cut out a large portion of the game to meet the deadline. All in all, the game had potential, but just didn't live up (Fable: Lost Chapters was better, having most of the original story).
